Safari Zones

Rajaji National Park, located in Uttarakhand, India, is divided into various safari zones to facilitate wildlife viewing and conservation efforts.

Chilla Zone

A 36 km drive in this safari zone is very popular. It takes 3-4 hours to complete the safari. From entry to Mundal Sot track passes through dense sal as well as open Chaur. It is example of mix jungle. Asian Elephant, Tiger, Leopard, Spotted deer, Sambhar, Langoor, Barking deer, Jungle cat etc animal found here. Pied, Great Hornbill also main attraction on this range.

Jhilmil Zone

A marshy grassland, the southern part of Chilla, is the conservation reserve for Swamp Deer. It is only area where you can found Swamp deer in Uttarkhand and west Uttar Pradesh. Now very popular for Birds also. November to March is perfect time to view migrated birds. Tiger, Leopard, Elephant, wild board, 4 types of deer also found in this area. Winter have crocodile point is main attraction and some area for Black Bear.

Motichur Zone

The Motichur Tourism zone may be accessed from the Motichur entry gate on the National Highway 58. The FRH is close to this gate. A drive to the Koelpura chaur is approximately 5km. The forest chowki built in 1934 and the machan at the Koelpura chaur are worth spending time. Danda machan and back through the mixed sal forest is a good drive. An alternate drive from the chaur to Chatrasal machan and back to the chaur is also very good.

Ranipur Zone

Beribara FRH, nestled within the historic Rajaji Wild Sanctuary, harks back to the colonial era, offering a glimpse into a bygone era of VVIP shikar. Surrounded by lush Terai farmland to the south, this sanctuary boasts a diverse landscape featuring Ber, Cheer pine, teak, rohini trees, and scrub forests interspersed with sprawling Lantena, creating an ideal habitat for wildlife enthusiasts.

Mohand (Chillawali) Zone

Located a mere 20 kilometers from Dehradun, Chillawali (Mohand) Rajaji National Park beckons wildlife enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. Situated near the picturesque town of Mohand and accessible via the Saharanpur to Dehradun National Highway, this national park guarantees a memorable experience.

One of the highlights here is the exhilarating jungle safari spanning approximately 35 kilometers through the Mohand Gate area. Lasting between two and a half to three hours, this safari presents a golden opportunity to immerse oneself in the park’s abundant flora and fauna thriving in their natural surroundings.

As you traverse through the park, expect to encounter a diverse array of wildlife species, from majestic elephants and elusive leopards to graceful deer and a variety of avian species.
